A Performance Evaluation System of Channel Allocation Protocol Based on Probability Vectors for Cognitive Radio Network

In cognitive radio networks (CRN), the channel allocation protocol has a great influence on the performance of radio resource utilization. The method of evaluating the performance of spectrum allocation protocol is still an open problem to be solved especially for multi-channel multi-user channel CRN. In this paper, a performance evaluation system of spectrum allocation protocol (PES-SAP) is designed to evaluate the protocol performance, which can provide a variety of performance evaluation metrics, such as throughput, average length, average delay and rejection rate, etc. A novel structure named probability distribution vector is implemented in PESSAP to analyze channel allocation protocol quantitatively with high flexibility. With the help of PES-SAP, an equitable random allocation protocol (ERAP) for multi-user multi-channel CRN is modeled and compared with conventional random allocation protocol (RAP). The numerical results generated by PES-SAP show that ERAP has better performance than RAP under given situations in multi-user multi-channel CRN.
