Synthesis of new azo imidazole ligand and fabricating it’s chelate complexes with some metallic ions

New ligand (TBPAM) was synthesized by coupling between (4-tetra-butyl)aniline and 4-methyl imidazole, then studied it's coordination behavior with five metal ions Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II), the ligand (TBPAM) and the prepared complexes were characterized by using Mass, 1 HNMR, Ultra violet-visible, FT-IR, Magnetic susceptibility and also by Molar conductivity. The conclusion of the data indicated the octahedral geometry of the complexes that have general formula [M(TBPAM) 2 Cl 2 ], where the ligand (TBPAM) behave as bidentate from azo group and imidazole moiety.
