Evaluation of Water-Using Efficiency and Analysis of Water-Saving Potential in Agriculture

It is necessary to comprehensively evaluate the efficiency of water-using and explore the potential of watersavingin China's agricultural production. This paper uses the stochastic frontier analysis method, combined withthe panel data of the agricultural production process in 2008-2017, to calculate the efficiency value ofagricultural water technology in 31 provinces in China. And the potential of agricultural water-saving wascalculated by the quota comparison method. Finally, the results of water-saving potential were analyzed basedon the factor endowments of different regions. The results show that all provinces' values of agricultural waterefficiency have not reached 1 in China, and each province's efficiency of agricultural water saving has increasedyear by year, the water saving potential is getting smaller and smaller. The value of water using efficiency incoastal areas is relatively high. This shows that in China's agricultural process, there is a serious excessiveinvestment in irrigation water, which has resulted in a large waste of water resources.
