Objective To investigate the impact of 3D virtual reality navigation technology (VR) for VATS lung segmentectomy. Methods All 8 cases with early stage of lung cancer were randomly divided into 2 groups from Department of Thoracic Surgery, The General Hospital of PLA from October 2016 to February, 2017 among which one group was operated with the navigation of VR. The intraoperative blood loss, operation time and postoperative recovery time were observed. Results The operation time of VR group was significantly shorter than the traditional(84.50±5.57 vs. 116.50±6.61)min, the amount of bleeding was significantly less (12.25±2.22 vs. 60.25±9.74)ml and the postoperative recovery time shortened(4.25±0.96 vs. 8.00±0.82)d (P<0.05). Conclusion Using the technology of virtual reality navigation to evaluate the operation plan, to plan the operation route, to navigate in time and to display the important anatomical structure, effectively reduces the difficulty of pulmonary segmental resection, which is of great significance for the popularity of lung segmentectomy.
