The proportion of late HIV diagnosis of newly reported HIV/AIDS cases in medical institutions in China was relatively high from 2009 to 2017 and the factors associated with late HIV diagnosis included male, Han nationality, old age group, low educational level, married spouse, other testing services and resident population.
