Three new cadmium complexes with ferrocenemonocarboxylate FcCOO- (Fc=(η5-C5H5)Fe(η5-C5H4)) as main ligand, {[Na2Cd( μ3-η2-FcCOO-)2( μ2-η2-FcCOO-)2(CH3OH)2]n (1), [Cd(phen)(FcCOO-)(η2-FcCOO)(H2O)](phen=1,10-phenanthroline) (2), [Cd(Det)(η2-FcCOO-)(FcCOO-)](H2O)2(Det=Diethylenetriamine) (3)}, were synthesized and their crystal structures have been determined. Complex 1 crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group C2/c. The Cd2+ and Na+ ions were linked by ferrocenemonocarboxylate in coordination modes of μ3-η2-FcCOO- and μ2-η2- FcCOO- to form an one-dimensional infinite chain. Both complex 2 and 3 are mononuclear structure, crystallize in monoclinic system with space group P21/c. The ferrocenemonocarboxylate coordinates to central metal ion in the modes of FcCOO- and η2-FcCOO-. In 2, the phen coordinates in the way of chelating bidentate and the H2O molecule takes part in the coordination. The coordination number of cadmium ion is six. In 3, the Det coordinates in chelating tridentate mode. The coordination number of cadmium ion is also six, but the water molecule doesn′t involve in the coordination.
