Introduction: CT is a leading imaging method for diagnostic of adrenal glands lesions. There are two groups of patients: the patients with endocrinopathy, and those without clinical manifestations, in which we accidentally discover pathological changes in adrenal glands- adrenal incidentalomas. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency and characteristics of the focal lesions of the adrenal glands, incidentally detected by abdominal CT. Materials and methods: We analyzed retrospectively the 200 abdominal CT examinations of patients without any clinical or biochemical evidence of adrenal endocrinopathy (84 women and 116 men, aged 25-81 years, average 57). In the group of patients in whom adrenal incidentaloma was detected, the number, location, size and density of lesions were analyzed. Results: Incidentaloma was detected in 32 (16%) of 200 examined patients. There was a statistically significant difference in the percentage of detected incidentalomas related to sex, with higher frequency in women (p <0,01), but in relation to age difference was not found. Lesions were bilateral in 5 (16%) cases, while in the remaining 27 (84%), unilateral. Diameter of lesions moves from 7-38 mm (average 18 mm). Most lesions, 25 (78%) of 32, were hypodense, and the remaining 7 (22%) cases were heterodense in relation to the density of preserved adrenal glands parenchyma. Conclusion: Incidentaloma of the adrenal glands is detected by abdominal CT in a significant percentage of patien...
