Objectives: National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases (NCCD) has compile the annual Report on Cardiovascular Disease in China since 2005, which is the most up-to-date statistics related to heart disease, stroke, and the related risk factor. The Report represents a critical resource for the lay public, policy makers, media professors, clinicians and others seeking the best available data on these conditions. Methods: Each annual version undergoes revisions to include the newest nationally representative data, add additional relevant published scientific findings, remove older information, add new sections if available. Results: Rapid socioeconomic progress in China has produced an immense impact on CVD. CVD is the leading cause of death for Chinese in both urban and rural area. 45.01% of deaths in rural area and 42.61% of deaths in urban area are caused by CVD in China. About 290 million Chinese people suffer from CVD: the number of patients suffering from stroke, coronary heart disease, heart failure, pulmonary heart disease, rheumatic heart disease and congenital heart disease are 13 million, 11 million, 4.5 million, 5 million, 2.5 million and 2 million, respectively. Prevalence of hypertension, dyslipidemia and diabetes is 25.2%, 40.4% and 10.9%. The incidence of CVD will remain an upward trend in the next decades.
