Corneal collagen fibrils are controlled during development by small leucine-rich proteoglycans to create a robust, yet optically transparent tissue. In article number 1804076, Qiongyu Guo, Anirudha Singh, Jennifer H. Elisseeff, and co-workers utilize cyclodextrins (CDs) instead to modulate fibril formation, alignment, ultrastructural organization, and spacing in vitrified collagen matrices.
