Electrochemical Synthesis of Tantalum Silicides from Chloride-Fluoride Melts

The possibility of the electrochemical synthesis of tantalum silicides in chloride-fluoride melts is examined. Based on thermodynamic calculations and voltammetric studies, it has been proved that this process consists of one stage. It is shown that the ratio of the bulk concentrations of tantalum and silicon in the melt does not determine the stoichiometry of cathodic reduction products. Ta 2 Si powder and coatings have been obtained by electrolysis.
