5450 To investigate the expression and clinical significance of KiSS -1 and E-cadherin in gastric cardia adenocarcinoma (GCA), the present study was undertaken to characterize the changes of KiSS-1 and E-cadherin in protein level on the subjects with normal gastric cardia epithelia (n = 20) and GCA (n = 80). The Streptavidin Peroxidase (SP) method was performed to determine the expression of KiSS-1 and E-cadherin. Of the 80 surgical resected GCA specimen, there were 48 subjects with lymph node metastasis. Immunohistochemistry results showed that the positive immunostaining rates for KiSS-1 and E-cadherin were 65% (13/20) and 80% (16/20) in normal gastric cardia epithelia, and 36% (29/80) and 40% (32/80) in GCA, respectively. The difference was significant (P
