Radiation pattern synthesis with improved high dimension PSO

The radiation pattern synthesis of large antenna array has an important application in telecommunication. The optimization of radiation pattern for large array is a high dimension optimization problem. The standard Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) has a poor performance in high dimension optimization problems. A improvement to PSO is presented, in which the memory requirement is reduced and the computational accuracy is improved. The computational results for 12 benchmark functions show the algorithm is effective in the high dimension optimization problems. Finally, the improved PSO is used to synthesize the radiation pattern for large antenna array and the efficiency and accuracy are proved.
