Accuracy and Geographic Transferability of Crop Water Production Functions

This paper presents the results of that recent study, which investigated over 300 crop water production functions (CWPFs) and 370 publications on production functions. The accuracy and geographic transferability of CWPFs were evaluated using several methods, but primarily by comparing CWPFs from different locations, years, and by using different water variables (such as ET and applied water). The sensitivities of yields to reductions in water use, or ET, was the focus of this analysis. To accomplish this, composite graphs of the CWPFs, CWPF slope coefficients and their standard deviations were used.
