SummaryActivities of commercial and lake phosphatases were assayed with six different substrates. The results showed dependence on type and concentration of substrate. Other factors which influenced the measured activities were phosphate concentration, temperature and pH. 4-methylumberriferyl phosphate was found to be the most suitable substrate for phosphatase activity measurement in lake water.
