Poverty and inequalities in health within developing countries: filling the information gap

Abstract This chapter discusses the lack of and limited use of data on poor–rich health inequalities and the health of the poor, especially in developing countries. It summarizes existing data and ongoing efforts to obtain additional information. Researchers of health inequalities and health interventions must move beyond diagnosis towards effective action. This requires not only better research but also types of research different from those undertaken so far.
