MIXED TUMOR OF THE NASAL SEPTUM

So-called mixed tumor in the otorhinolaryngological field is frequently found in the salivary gland, but that developed from the nasal septum is very rare.This case was a 35-year-old male complairing of obstruction of the right nasal cavity and epistaxis. The right nasal cavity was filled with a tumor having a steel appeared from the nasal septum. The tumor was easily extirpated, and the size was 2.5 *2.3 *1.5 cm, and its weight was 3.5g. The histological picture showed diffuse proliferation of fibroblast-like cells, satellite cell-like cells, and the various kinds of cellular components, which characteristic for a mixed tumor of the salivary gland such as epithelial cell components forming the cell nests and many glandular cavities, those showing squamous cell metaplasia with a keratinized pearl and those with myxomatous change.In Japan, 12 cases of this tumor have been reported so far and this case is the 13th.
