A Multi-centre,Prospective,Randomized and Control Trial for the Tongxinluo Used for Ischemic Stroke (Acute and Sub-Acute Stage)

Objective:To investigate the clinical effect and safety of the herb named Tongxinluo used for patients after ischemic stroke.Methods:The recruited patients were divided into the treatment-group and the control-group randomly,28 days was a course of treatment,follow up for 12 months,then recorded the side-effect and evaluated the clinical effect by the Barthel Index,the European Stroke Scale and the recurrence rate and case fatality rate of the cardiac-cerebral ischemic events.Results:There was no statistic difference between the two groups in the result of the Barthel Index after 14,28 days treatment(P0.05),but the significant difference was evident after 3 month(P0.05);there was statistic difference between the two groups in the result of the European Stroke Scale after 28 days(P0.05).After 12 months,the statistic difference of the recurrence rate between the two groups was not significant(P0.05).No side effect was complained by the patients in the treatment-group.Conclusion:Tongxinluo was safe,and it was better than the traditional therapy for ischemic stroke which could decrease the long-term recurrence rate.
