Hypertension induced by lidocaine

One 58-year-old woman with constrictive tenosynovitis was hospitalized for akupotomye therapy.Before the operation,the patient received local infiltration anesthesia of 2% lidocaine hydrochloride 3 mL and triamcinolone acetonide 1 mL.Three minutes later,she developed dizziness,dyspnea,pins and needles in mouth and limbs,and twitch.At the same time,her blood pressure was 210/110 mm Hg.Buccal nifedipine and nitroglycerin,and intramuscular injection of reserpine,dexamethasone and diazepam were given in order.Then her symptoms relieved,and the blood pressure was 110/60 mm Hg.Four hours later,her blood pressure returned to normal and the above described symptoms did not recur.
