The novel The Izu Dancer is one of the early representative works of the famous Japanese writer Kawabata. The author described the hazy and pure love story between the hero and heroine. The analysis of the image of the heroine Kaori is helpful to deepen the understanding of the author's views about women. Kaori, being elegant and beautiful, is a blend of the perfect image of women in Kawabata's ideal, namely full of pure feeling, childlike innocence and maternal love.
