Investigation and analysis of smoking behavior among community residents in Urumqi

Objective:To understand the status of smoking behavior among community residents in Urumqi,with a view to further deepen theoretical and realistic basis of tobacco control interventions.Methods Using method of random sampling,randomly in two districts in Urumqi,in each randomly selected two streets,each street randomly selected two neighborhoods,neighborhood of each randomly selected number of families,each family taking aquestionnaire survey of residents aged 15 and over.Results Comparison of community smoking rate was 18.7%,community smoking rates in the different demographic characteristics,gender,ethnicity,age and educational level differences were statistically significant(P 0.05);50.5% had quit smoking three times and above,54.3% of residents expressed an intention to quit smoking,but there were still 45.7% of smokers were not smoking cessation intention;34.4% of the population the family didn′t allow smoking,58.2% of the workplace area didn′t allow smoking;The three factors of age,sex and educational level were the factors of affecting smoking behavior.Conclusion Between the ages of 40-49,low educational attainment and higher education had higher smoking rates;Community awareness of tobacco control and tobacco control measures were taken by the less than ideal;Age,sex and educational level of combined effect of smoking.
