System Analysis and Research Overview of Space-based Maritime Surveillance

Space-based maritime target surveillance is an important development in modern satellite applied technology. This paper analyzed the characters of maritime targets and surveillance environments,discussed the classification and development of surveillance assets,and investigated the characters and applicability of different types of platforms and payloads. And then overviewed information processing techniques for maritime target detection,classification,identification/recognition,mission planning/scheduling approaches and related researches. Furthermore,analyzed the characters,applicability and development of these techniques. Finally,summarized the developing direction of space-based maritime target surveillance researches and applications.
