Migration of Heavy Metals in Sludge Treatment by Thermal Hydrolysis Process

The thermal hydrolysis process was used to treat municipal dewatered sludge,and BCR sequential extraction process was employed to extract heavy metals from the sludge.The fraction distribution of Zn,Cu,Cd and Pb before and after hydrolysis of sludge was investigated.The results show that before hydrolysis,Pb mainly exists in residual fraction,and it is relatively stable;Cu and Cd mainly exist in residual fraction and oxidizable fraction;Zn mainly exists in acid-soluble fraction and reducible fraction,and it has strong potential migration behaviour.After the thermal hydrolysis,the heavy metals in sludge mainly exist in solid phase and in residual fraction,and their migration behaviour is lower than that before hydrolysis.
