Photosynthetic characteristics of vinyl house spring tomato affected by field capacity in dry-farming area

Field trials was carried out with five treatments of irrigation field capacity( 80%,70%,60%,50% and 40% of field capacity) on vinyl house spring tomato,and the photosynthesis and fluorescence parameters of tomato leaf at flowering and fruit setting stage were measured and analyzed. With the reduction of field capacity,net photosynthetic rate( P n),transpiration rate( T r),stomatal conductivity( G s),intercellular CO2concentration( C i),the reaction center of PS Ⅱ photochemical efficiency of chemical transfer( F v/ F m),light reaction center of PS II potential activity( F v/ F o),electron transfer( ET0/ CS0),active reaction center per unit area( RC/CS0) and performance index( PI) of tomato leaf showed significant downward trends,and the falling in performance index( PI) was the biggest.With the reduction of field capacity,stomatal limitation value( L s),water use efficiency( WUE),absorbed light energy per unit area( ABS / CS0),captured light energy( TR0/ CS0) and heat dissipation( DI0/ CS0) first slowly decreased and then significantly increased. It demonstrated that excessive or insufficient water could impair photosynthesis and PS Ⅱ activities,causing closed stomata,inhibited PS Ⅱ primary photochemical activity,suffered PS Ⅱ activity centers,imbalanced distribution of energy conversion,and blocked electron transport.
