Effects of Dietary Protein Sources on Growth in Juvenile Sea Cucumber(Apostichopus japonicus)

Five diets meal,protein(25%) and lipid(5.0%) in the same level,were formulated by adding marine sediment,chicken manure,dry gulfweed,shells powder,vitamin mixture and mineral mixture,whose deitary protein sources were corn protein(Group A),soybean protein(Group B),fish meal(Group C),shrimp meal(Group D)and soybean(Group E),respectively. Juvenile sea cucumbers(4.69 g,BW)were breeded at water temperature of 12.0~19.5 ℃. Experiment periods were 60 d. The results showed that the specific growth rates in the sea cucumber fed different dietary proteins were descendently arranged,as follow: Group CGroup DGroup AGroup BGroup E; but there were no significant differences among the groups(P 0.05). The crude protein digestibility of sea cucumber was greatest for Group A(66.49%),whereas it was lowest for Group C(21.09%). The crude fat digestibility of sea cucumber was greatest for Group E(46.07%) and it was lowest for Group C (25.16%). The crude protein level in sea cucumber was highest for Group A,and the utilization rates of the dietary saturated and unsaturated fatty acids were highest for Group A. That was indicated that the sea cucumber fed the vegetality diet meal had higher nutritional values.
