On LIU Kai's Pragmatic Thoughts

With the rise of the pragmatic thinking trend in the Jiaqing and Daoguang years,the intellectuals began to pay attention to the reality and proposed reform measures accordingly. Influenced by the then thinking trend,disciples of the Tongcheng School also had their own pragmatic thoughts. LIU Kai,one of the four talented students of YAO Lai,received little attention of scholars. His pragmatic thoughts not only inherited the tradition of the Tongcheng School but also constituted an important part of the pragmatic thoughts in the Jiaqing and Daoguang years.
