A study of mental status of different models of provision for the old people with loss of spouse

Objective:To study subjective well-being,depressive emotion and related factors in the old people with loss of spouse living in community and the old center. Method:MUNSH,CES-D,ADL and the written questionnaire were administered to test the old people who have lived in the old center and lost their spouse for over two years (the center group) and the old people living in communities with the common condition (the community group). Results:The total mean score of well-being and depression between the center group and the community group had no statistical differences.Healthy status,self-care ability, care and support from offspring and relatives and income had an obvious effect on the center group's mental status. Conclusion:The old people with loss of spouse still have higher well-being under certain condition and living in the old center is a practical model of provision for them.
