Simulation and analysis on effect of side wind on stabilization of vehicle with high speed

The direction stability is obviously affected on side wind when automobile is running at high speed, which is related to the location of aerodynamics center of the side wind. However there are two different standpoints: one is that the direction stability is affected by the relative location between aerodynamics center of the side wind and neutral-steer point; the other is that the effect is related to the relative location between aerodynamics center of the side wind and automotive center of mass. The effect of side wind was simulated with Matlab / Simulink based on two-degree of freedom dynamics model in this research. The result shows the first standpoint is correct.
