Preparation of 2-Trifluoromethylthiaxanthen-9-one

2-Trifluoromethylthiaxanthen-9-one was prepared by condensation of 2-mercaptobenzoic acid and 4-chlorotrifluoromethylbenzene to give 2-(4-trifluoromethylphenylthio)benzoic acid followed by cyclization with an overall yield of 49%.
