VARIATIONS OF CURVATURE,TORSION AND STRESS OF DOUBLE HELIX WIRE IN 6×7+IWS WIRE ROPE

In order to understand the stress characteristics of helical wires in wire rope during fluctuating load,curvature and torsion variations of double helix wire in 6×7+IWS was investigated.Explicit expressions of helix angles bearing axial load were deduced.And,variation characteristics of curvature,torsion and stress for double helix wire were obtained.With application analysis,the results show that helix angles ascend linearly along with axial load,and curvature and torsion of double helix in helix strand vary with rotation angle of 360 degree periodically.The maximal's value of curvature occurs outside helix strand,but torsion is the minimum,and inside of helix strand is opposite.Curvature and bending stress amplitude of double helix in langs lay of wire rope are much larger than in ordinary lay.
