Clinical Analysis of Thirty Patients with Fatty Liver Expressed Insulin Resistance

Objective We sought to better understand its etiology and its relationship to insulin resistanec.Methods Retrospective review of 30 patients seen over 3 years period.Results The clinical features that define insulin resistance(hypertension,obesity,diabetes and hyperlipidemia)are common in our patients.Of 18 patients underwent glucose tolerance testing.1 of therm were newly diseased as having diabetes.Seventeen patients(three with impaired fasting glucose.one impaired glucose tolerance,and thirteen normal glucose tolerance)had exaggerated insulin responses,with a insulin resistance index 8.91±1.52%.Conclusion Fatty liver may be a sequel of metabolic disturbance on the liver due to insulin resistance.
