THE syndrome of curable hypertension due to unilateral renal disease has evoked widespread clinical interest since Goldblatt's1 classic experiments and Butler's2 report of the first case in 1937. Our particular interest in certain ancillary clinical findings helpful in the bedside diagnosis of this disease arose during the period of observation of a thirty-seven-year-old man with occlusion of the right renal artery.
