2012: from drought to floods in England and Wales

This paper examines the exceptionally wet conditions which began in April 2012, abruptly terminating the prolonged 2010-12 drought across England & Wales (reviewed in Kendon et al. 2013) and culminating in exceptional runoff and aquifer recharge rates late in the year.The hydrological transformation during the late spring and summer of 2012 was without close modern parallel for the time of year.http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/weather Wather 1 EWP series, after Alexander & Jones (2001).Throughout this article 'England & Wales' denotes England and Wales combined.For more information on data sources, see Kendon et al.
