An Investigation of the Movements of Fresh-Water Invertebrate Faunas

IN a previous paper (Moon, 1935 b) it was shown that in times of flood the invertebrate littoral fauna of Windermere moves on to parts of the shore recently covered by the rise in level of the lake. These flood movements are only a special case of the movements which are always taking place in the littoral region of lakes, and on the beds of streams. It is with these movements that the present paper is concerned.
