Abstract. The sulfation factor (SF) was purified from human plasma. This factor also stimulates the uptake and conversion of glucose‐1‐14C to 14CO2 in rat epididymal fat tissue after addition of insulin antibodies to the incubation medium (so‐called nonsuppressible insulin‐like activity, ILA). During purification of plasma SF it was not possible to separate nonsuppressible ILA from SF activity, one unit of SF corresponding to about 200 U of nonsuppressible ILA. This finding indicates that SF activity and nonsuppressible ILA are inherent in the same molecule. Human growth hormone was shown to induce the occurrence of SF activity in a crude microsomal fraction from rat liver.
