Retinoblastoma and osteogenic sarcoma in siblings

Two siblings with bilateral retinoblastoma are presented, both of whom subsequently developed osteogenic sarcoma of the femur. The general concept of gene-induced oncogenesis is discussed, and it is suggested that both patients with familial retinoblastomas and their first-degree relatives might be at increased risk for other tumors at sites distant from the ocular area.
