Relationships between collective learning, absorptive capacity, and innovation performance

The aim of this study is to provide a quantitative analysis of collective learning, absorptive capacity, and innovation performance as key success factors in industrial cluster. The study focuses, in particular on the mediation effect of absorptive capacity, largely neglected in the literature. The results show that collective learning including interaction with local firms, interaction with local institutions and interaction with local labour market have positive effects on innovation performance. As expected, results indicate that the effects of collective learning on innovation performance were mediated by absorptive capacity.
