The iterative-perturbative method for solving the fixed-energy inverse scattering problem, applicable to spin- 1 / 2 projectiles, is further developed. A procedure is described for estimating those uncertainties in the extracted potentials which arise from the inversion procedure. A comparison of different basis sets confirms the uniqueness of the potentials. The uncertainty formalism is evaluated with model cases, some with artificial noise in the S-matrix, and including a spin- 1 / 2 case. The method is applied to a previously published application involving the dynamic polarisation potential for nucleon scattering. The error formalism is used to validate the iterative-perturbative method for energies and projectiles where larger uncertainties might be expected.
