Abstract A novel polyoxometalate compound, [As 8 V 14 O 42 (SO 4 )][Ni(en) 2 ] 3 ·4.5H 2 O ( 1 ), has been synthesized by a hydrothermal method and characterized by X‐ray crystallography, showing that the compound 1 is the first example of a sinusoidal layer structure constructed from polyoxometalates and coordination complex fragments.
