Subtilisin Novo. The Three-Dimensional Structure and Its Comparison with Subtilisin BPN'

1 The three-dimensional structure of subtilisin Novo was determined by X-ray crystallographic methods to a resolution of 0.28 nm and compared with the structure of subtilisin BPN′. 2 The two subtilisins have an equal amino acid sequence. It is shown that neither the quite different media nor the different lattice contacts in the two crystal forms result in any major structural change. 3 Subtilisin Novo has a binding site for monovalent cations.
