Recent Progress in Electrothermal Vaporization–Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry

Recent progress in electrothermal vaporization (ETV)‐inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP‐AES) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP‐MS) is reviewed in this article, and 175 references are cited. Special attention was focused on the vaporization mechanism of analytes in ETV, chemical modification, direct solid sample analysis, preconcentration/separation techniques for ETV, as well as their recent applications in biological, environmental, refractory, and high‐purity materials. The future development of ETV‐ICP‐AES/MS is also discussed.
