Synopsis Dry matter production and N uptake by wheat reached a maximum at heading, soft dough, and maturity on NP, N, and unfertilized plots, respectively. Maximum P uptake occurred by heading irrespective of treatment. Nitrogen and phosphorus in the grain were derived primarily by translocation from leaves, stems, and chaff, and the amount was influenced by fertilization.
