To support research on the metabolism and effects of tritium it became necessary to develop an analytical method for tritium oxide in aqueous samples (1). Samples containing as little as 0.01 ,c/ml were to be routinely analyzed with good accuracy. The ultimate goal was therefore a relatively simple procedure utilizing easily maintained, reliable instruments, and one that could be carried out by nonskilled personnel.
