Point Defects in Neutron‐Damaged Silica Glass

Abstract A point defect structure for neutron‐damaged silica glass is postulated. Pease's formula as tested by Monte Carlo calculations using a special closed model of a silica glass lattice is applied to the experimental volume compaction data, by considering SiO 2 point defects. Some new experimental data, which are presented here, are used to compute the threshold energies.
