Contact Transformation and Its Application to the Vibrational Hamiltonian

The criteria for applicability of a full contact transformation are examined. Comments are made on the relation between the Rayleigh-Schr\"odinger and contact-transformation perturbation representations. The analysis is based upon the use of a Hermitian operator defined as a commutator with the zero-order Hamiltonian and upon the use of the Fock representation. The methods are developed in the context of the vibrational Hamiltonian.
