Summary In reciprocal crosses a deficit in numbers of offspring was noted when the male belonged to the NZB/B1 and the females to the NZO/B1 and NZY/B1 strains. In such matings the number of implantation sites was low. Only a small reduction in fertility was noted when NZC/B1 females were mated to NZB/B1 males. In offspring of reciprocal crosses NZB/B1 × NZC/B1 the incidence of autoimmune haemolytic anaemia was virtually 100 per cent in F1 and 74 per cent in F2 mice independent of sex of the NZB/B1 parent.
