Nomenclature for erythrocyte membrane proteins is according to Steck (9).Ankyrin has also been used as a name for two polypeptides of Mr = 250,000 and 230,000 which have been visualized on SDS-gels of striated rootlets from molluscan cilliated epithelial cells (12).
