The Ciba Foundation Symposium on the Neurological Basis of Behaviour is an interesting and stimulating review of much recent work in the field of organic behavioral science. Being a collection of the presentations of 19 groups of researchers it is not a homogeneous book but rather presents a spectrum of research projects varying from the electrophysiology of single neurones through studies in neuroanatomy by ablation and through drug research to an introductory historical and philosophical review of the relationship of mind and brain. The work presented in this symposium may not seem to have immediate application in present-day clinical medicine but it shows the way toward future understanding of the learning brain and to the organic basis of human action.
